•Shemshal [ old name: Shngshal" ] is the •village" in Gojal Tehsil of Hunza District in the •Gilgit-Baltistan part of Pakistan, known as Northern Areas of Pakistan, It is at an altitude of 3 thousand one hundred *meters above sea level and is the highest settlement in the district. It is a tributary of the Hunza River in the Shamshal Valley. Shamshal is a border village that connects the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan with China. The total area of Shamshal is about 3, 3,800 km2 and there are about 200 inhabitants with a total of 250 households. The village of Shamshal was founded about 570 years ago (in 1450) by Mamo Singh, the brother of Cho Singh, both speakers of Burshaski and belonging to the Brong family. •Shamshal is made up of four major cities.
